Your 2016 Winter Break Bucket List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Congratulations on finishing another semester, Dukes! The holidays are upon us, and if you want to get the most out of your winter break, then this bucket list is exactly what you’ve been looking for.

1. Catch up on sleep

It’s going to feel good sleeping in until 11 a.m. without having to worry about missing a class or studying for finals.

2. Binge-watch your favorite Netflix series

Without the shame of feeling like you should be studying.

3. Drink hot chocolate

We all know mom’s hot chocolate is way better than the watered down stuff at the dining halls.

4. Build a snowman

Hopefully you’ll have a white Christmas this year. And if you do, build a snowman with friends and family!

5. Watch Elf

Because SANTA IS COMING!

6. Go ice skating

Even if you fall every time you try to stand up, go for the photo opportunity.

7. Bake cookies

And shamelessly eat every single one.

8. Make/decorate a gingerbread house

Even if it ends up in a sticky pile of broken gingerbread pieces and icing, eating it is always way more fun than making it.

9. Take a family holiday photo

Extra points if you all wear ugly sweaters!

10. Visit Santa at the mall

Because you’ll never be too old to experience the magic.

11. Have a holiday movie marathon

A few of my favorites: “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “A Christmas Carol,: “Home Alone,” “The Polar Express,” “How The Grinch Stole Christmas”

Speaking of the Grinch…

12. Watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas

And shamelessly relate to almost everything the Grinch says.

13. Catch up with friends from high school

14. Read (for fun)

It’ll be a nice break from textbooks.

And last but not least…

15. Enjoy some much-needed time with family

Unfortunately, before you know it, winter break will end and you’ll be back at school starting a new semester. Cherish this uninterrupted time with your family.

From me and mine to you and yours, happy holidays!
