Four Accessories of Fall 2013

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kean chapter.

Outifts are important, but what really pumps up your look are the accessories. Fall always has some awesome accessories. Hats, scarves, boots, and bookbags are the usual. However, there are some new trends this 2013 fall season that you may not know about.

No worries, though. Here are four major trends of the fall 2013 accessories:

Short Handle and Long Chain Purses

Purses are always great accessories to add to your outfit. They can be the statement piece or just a addition, either way a girl needs her purse.

The handbags that are in for the fall are short handles and long chains. Short handles are bags with a handle that you can carry in the crook of your palm. They look both professional and adorable.

Long chains attached to a small bag are also a fall 2013 accessory. They keep your hands free while also adding a little rock and roll to your outfit.

Word Jewelry

What girl doesn’t like jewelry? Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, right?

Well, instead of spending all of that money on diamonds, go for jewelry that says something. Literally! Necklaces, bracelets, and rings that form words are very in fashion right now.

In the mood for some thing soft and romantic? Find an anklet that says “love.” How about feeling a little daring and fiesty? Wear rings that spell out “rebel.” Or maybe you want to make a statement and let everyone know who you are? Show off a necklace inscribed with your name.

Animal (or Bug) Accents

Animal print is always easy to find. Cheetah, zebra, and snakeskin patterns are all over throughout the year and are still in style. However, it’s not just the prints. Animal faces and figures are really in right now. Things like cute cat rings, fox faces on scarves, and owl backpacks can be found everywhere!

Furs are also starting to come out as a fall accessory. Not having to be real, fur on anything is really hot. Plus, they keep you really warm.

However, what is completely new this year is the bug accessory. Bug rings, bug belt buckles, and bug colorings are all in style. The turquoise, metallic color that is meant to replicate dragonfly wings has started to take flight in stores. It’s a chic and sophisticated color that promises to look good on anyone.

Short and Tall Boots

Whenever you hear fall, what shoes do you usually think of? I’d say boots.

The great thing about fall is that there are so many boot styles available. Heels, flats, grungy, and classy are just a few of the many kinds you can get. However, right now it is the height of the shoes that need to be considered.

Both of the extremes in height are in right now. Tall boots that go to the knee and higher are in style as well as boots that go to the ankle and shorter. Either one you wear, you’re sure to be in style!

"Just a girl trying new things!"Brigit Bauma was born in South/Central New Jersey on a farm of all things! Now she always knew that she wasn't born for the farm life, but she gained some great experiences from growing up on one. She wouldn't trade it for the world. She graduated in the top 10 of her high school and recieved the NJSTARS scholarship to go to her community college and earn her Associates degree. Brigit at first went for Nursing, but through a hard semester, found that even though she enjoyed the people and helping others, it was not for her. Always a lover of the arts, Brigit tried out for the musical and got cast as a minor role, which was huge! This helped her find that she wanted to pursue a degree in the arts. Brigit graduated with her Associates in English and Theater. She also earned a 3.75 gpa which qualified her for the NJSTARSII scholarship which she can use to go to a 4 year public school in New Jersey and get her Bachelors degree. Because Brigit wishes to pursue an editing job for a publishing company or magazine, she decided to go to Kean which is close to the city and she can hop on a train right by her school! Brigit has lots of cougar pride and would love to share her love for the arts, fashion, boys, and college experience with everyone!
