If you keep up with the editorial beauty blog, Into The Gloss, then you’ve probably heard of Glossier (pronounced like dossier). Just like ITG, Glossier is Emily Weiss’ brainchild. As the founder and CEO of ITG, Weiss and her editors have seen and tested every beauty product you can think of.
All those products coming across their desks make ITG editors the perfect people to curate a beauty brand; they know what works. Glossier was born in 2014 when the editors of ITG decided to take matters into their own hands.
Glossier’s motto is, “Skin first. Makeup second,” and they’ve created product sets with that mantra in mind. Just last month, Glossier released their makeup-centric Phase 2 set, and I’ve managed to snag one to review for all of you!
The Phase 2 set has three products and retails at $50. The set consists of Generation G, Boy Brow and Stretch Concealer, all of which can be bought separately.
Generation G (4 shades) ★★★★☆
Generation G is a sheer matte lipstick. I got it in the shade “Like,” which is a stunning deep pink. The color reminds me of Fresh’s Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment, but more buildable and with a stain-like finish. I docked one star because it’s not very long wearing – it doesn’t claim to be, but I have to re-apply too frequently to give it a perfect score.
Boy Brow (3 shades) ★★★★★
I .Am. Obsessed.
I’d heard about Boy Brow from beauty bloggers and YouTbers. It’s constantly sold out, and I was sure that the product couldn’t possibly live up to the hype. I’m happy to be proven wrong, because Boy Brow now has a (likely) permanent spot in my makeup routine. The product description claims to “thicken, fill in and groom” and that’s exactly what Boy Brow does.
I don’t know about you, but I’m simultaneously lazy and a perfectionist when it comes to doing my eyebrows (it’s a terrible combination). Boy Brow is the perfect solution to my dilemma, because you just swipe it on and poof! – you’re Cara Delevigne.
Stretch Concealer (5 shades) ★★★★☆
Overall, this is a great product. It feels really light, but the pigmentation is great and fabulously buildable. The product has cocoa butter, avocado and jojoba oil which gives you a natural dewy finish while nourishing your skin. I gave it four stars just because of the small shade range. I’m between shades, so if I wanted to wear just this concealer alone, I’d have to have both the medium and dark to match different parts of my face (i.e. under eyes, spots, etc.).
