On February 22, our prayers were answered, folks. I mean if a genie gave me three wishes, this would be one of them. Friends is having a reunion. Something that I never thought would happen, is now real life. So, if you’re as excited about me as this, here is all you need to know.
- It will be on HBO Max
-
The new streaming service will premiere in May of 2020 and include shows, movies and even podcasts. It will cost $15 a month and contain all 236 episodes of Friends along with the exclusive new reunion. If you’re still grieving over Netflix removing the iconic sitcom, this may be your light at the end of the dark, Friends-less tunnel.
- It will be unscripted
-
In my personal, and not at all professional opinion, nothing can live up to the original series. Times have changed, meaning the characters would have too. I’m interested to see how this goes without a formal script.
- The entire cast will be attending
-
“It’s happening,” was the caption of the entire cast’s Instagram posts. While everyone seemed in agreeance with the photo being posted, Matt LeBlanc, who plays Joey Tribiani, had a different idea. He used the same caption, but instead of a photo of the cast, he used one with the cast of M.A.S.H.
- They’re making pretty good money
-
According to reports from Hollywood Reporter and Variety, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer will receive almost 3 million dollars for the much-anticipated reunion. This is a significant increase to what they were paid when the original show was running. By seasons nine and ten, the cast made $1 million dollars per episode according to Business Insider.
- Other celebrities are excited
-
After the news was shared, celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Charlie Pruth, David Spade and countless others were first to express their excitement. This just goes to show that Friends impacted so many people’s lives, and it’s an absolute classic for everyone.
This originally light-hearted, trend setting, hit TV series has a lot to live up to. If anyone can outdo them, it’s them. I guess they weren’t really on a break…
