New York Fashion Week kicked off on February 9th with all eyes are on the industry. Fashion is not as shallow as it is constantly portrayed in the media; here is a short compromised list of fashion short films illustrating the true side of fashion.
1. “Outlaw!”
In the short film “Outlaw!” for Outlaw Moscow, it illustrates how people can still feel alone and isolated in the presence of others.
2. “It’s What’s Inside That Counts”
Mulberry’s “It’s What’s Inside That Counts”, features an unexpected twist in the form of child actors playing a grown up family during the Christmas season. This short film shows how people get caught up in the festivities of Christmas and often forget it’s what’s inside that counts.
3. “Your Future Is Not Mine”
In “Your Future Is Not Mine” by Adidas, the film focuses on a powerful message that no one can carve your path but yourself, speaking to how individuality in this new era of technology sometimes gets lost but it is up to you to stay true to yourself.
4. “The Seven Deadly Sins of Edward Enninful”
Showstudio and Beats’ “The Seven Deadly Sins of Edward Enninful” by Nick Knight, illustrates the seven sins which are feelings that lead to other immoralities mentioned in the Bible. The video features “Pride” with Naomi Campbell, “Greed” with Karlie Kloss and “Lust” with Kate Moss, just a few to list.
5. “The Realest Real”
Kenzo’s “The Realest Real” by Carrie Brownstein is a humorous satirical piece demonstrating how this generation idolizes figures in the media, but in reality they barely know these celebrities, other than the way they are portrayed in the media; everything is not what it may seem.
