- Russian Doll
-
Russian Doll is a Netflix show created by Natasha Lyonne, Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler. The show starts off with a kind of Groundhog Day essence where the main character, Nadia, keeps dying on her birthay and then restarts the day. The show builds into so much more though. Touching on themes of self-improvement, facing past trauma, existentialism and the importance of human connection. It’s also really funny and I feel like it gives the viewer hope that we can overcome our stuggles and failings and come out a better person.

- The Poltician
-
The Poltician, a Netfix show, is like the movie Election for the Gen Z and millennial generations. It follows high school student Payton who has the dream of becoming President of the United States. The first step for him in that process is becoming the student body president of his class. This show was created by Ryan Murphy, so it has all the stylized look and over-the-top drama you love about his shows. In a very real sense, it takes a satircal look at the failing of poltical systems and the how “by any means necessary” mentalities in elections hurt all people.
- Fleabag
-
The first season of Fleabag didn’t come out in 2019, but season two did and it was amazing! Fleabag follows a lonely guinea pig themed cafe owner trying to figure out her life and relatonships. One part of this show that is so enjoyable is that the character Fleabag, who gives you insight to her inner monoluge by looking direclty into the camera and telling us her thoughts. Fleablag is an antihero trying her best while getting into mischief along the way.
- Succession
-
Season two of Succession came out in 2019 and it was even better than season one! This show is about a crazy wealthy family in New York who owns a Fox News-like company. No one in this show is a good person (in fact they are all jerks) but they are very funny.
