Why You Need to Visit Majestic Meadows Near Kent

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

Majestic Meadows is an alpaca farm right outside of Kent. Located in Medina, Ohio, the farm “has been breeding and raising alpacas for over 25 years and have now added lots of family friendly animals to the farm to create the ultimate farm education experience for animal lovers of all ages.”

At first, my friends and I swore that we were cursed and never meant to see the lovely alpacas. After two failed attempts at visiting them, the third time was a charm. We booked our tickets for under $8 and drove the hour from Kent to see the alpacas. You can also choose to buy feed for $3 which my friends somehow managed to make the small Ziplock bag that looks like it should be carrying drugs in it last the entire time.

Anyone who knows me knows I am not the type of girl who would voluntarily go to a farm when it is nearly 40 degrees out and pet some muddy animals. BUT never say never, my friends. The farm was surprisingly really clean and they had so many more animals than we could have ever thought!

The name “alpaca farm” was a little misleading, but in a good way. There were SO many animals. My friend’s favorites were the highland cows. All the way in the back, the cows, Elsa and Ana, were the highlight of the trip. They let us pet them, feed them and we obviously took lots of pictures.

Let’s just say, the alpacas were not the highlight of the trip. In fact, I liked almost every other animal we saw more than the alpacas. No offense to them. Luckily, I did not have food so I was not being swarmed, but the second they got their food, they ditched. No pets or anything! Kind of greedy if you ask me. The cows and sheep, though, were grateful.

The really nice part about the farm was that there was not a time limit. We took our time looking at all of the animals, my friends petting and feeding them, me watching from a safer and cleaner distance.

After they used up all of their food and I remained un-slobbery, we headed into a barn where they had goats. My favorite part!! They had baby goats that were born just a week before we visited and they were running around in cute, handmade pajamas. We got to hold them and I was so tempted to try to bring one home!

We were told that around the beginning of May, they would have around 60 baby alpacas being born, so the chances of you seeing one being born are extremely likely and if you do not, you will at least be able to see some of the babies that were already born!

I have to give Majestic Meadows a 10/10. It is the perfect day trip, does not cost a ton of money and you get to see and pet some pretty awesome animals! Link to their website here.
