When you were a freshman, what made you apply to be a CA?
Uhh, that was a long time ago. I love working with people and being able to plan fun events for them and filling other people with happiness, which I think is my job as a CA.
After three years of being a CA, what’s your favorite part of the job?
I think I love that you get to know so many more people and be part of their lives and help shape their time at Kenyon, both your residents and the whole CA family. And being surrounded by the 48 best people at Kenyon.
You’re involved in a lot of activities where you work with younger students. What draws you to these things?
I enjoy helping and teaching, I enjoy having others benefit from my experience with them. If they learn something new, if they get to make new friends from a hall program or something, then it makes me happy that they’re happy.
Based on tutoring at the MSSC versus Wiggin St. Elementary, when you’re a teacher would you rather work with older or younger kids?
I want to teach teenagers. I’m not sure exactly what level of teenager; I think I’d do well with middle schoolers because I like colorful classrooms. But I’ve heard bad things about teaching middle schoolers. Plus, I’d love to just teach Biology or Chemistry.
I know Ballroom is a big part of your life. What made you want to join the team?
I actually had no intention to ever do ballroom dancing in my life. The only junior I met at the Activities Fair told me to put my name on a list, and then I kept getting a lot of Ballroom emails. It wasn’t the dancing that kept me, but I really loved the atmosphere and all the people in Ballroom.
What’s your favorite dance?
I don’t like answering that question, because then you’re putting one dance above another. All of them. Probably swing.
Now for some fun questions. Would you rather be a hash brown triangle or a big cookie?
Probably big cookie.
Is there anything left on your Kenyon Bucket List?
I’ve already skinny dipped in the Kokosing, so it would be to climb on top of a building.
If you were a Disney princess, which animal would you pick as your sidekick?
Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
Study room in the Science quad, either in Tomsich or Hayes.
What will you miss most about Kenyon after you graduate?
The community. The loving, caring, friendly, open atmosphere.
What is one piece of advice you have for underclassmen?
Don’t be afraid to ring the bells. Basically, there are a lot of cool things to do on this campus. Do them.
