A Succinct Discourse With Alyssa White

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kenyon chapter.

Name: Alyssa White
Class: 2012
Major: Drama
Hometown: Mill Valley, CA (see video below)
Activities: I like theatre.

Legend has it that you’re a pretty busy drama major. What projects are you working on right now?
I’m directing Collected Stories (a senior thesis) and assistant directing Hamlet with Señor Viccellio.

What’s it like being Ben Viccellio’s apprentice? How does one describe learning art from such a master? I try and take in every eyebrow raise in hopes that I can mimick it in my future career.

Hamlet is basically about ghosts, right? If you could be visited by the ghost of anyone, who  would it be and why?
It would be Frank Sinatra, because even in his pale, ghost-like form, his soothing voice could lull me into a deep sleep. I would perchance like to dance with him…but if he’s a ghost I probably couldn’t do that.

While we’re on the subject of the afterlife: how are you coping with the loss of Gourdzilla? I just think that we mistreated a friend. He was so great.

If you could create the special at Middle Ground, what would you make?
Breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

Your call.
Pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes with that peppered bacon that they used to have. Seriously, where the FUG did that go???

How did you like that episode of Greek I just showed you?
1. You were right.
2. It was alot better than Pretty Little Liars.
3. I think they’re better at beer pong than we are.

Caroline Black is a senior Drama major at Kenyon College. In addition to co-founding and writing for her school's HC branch, Caroline is co-president of Beer and Sex, Kenyon's student-run freshman orientation program (and she enjoys making jokes about that title as much as you do). When she's not doing hippy-dippy acting warm-ups or volunteering with her service organization, The Archon Society, Caroline enjoys watching "Parks and Recreation" and dismaying her friends with terrible puns.
