5 Easy Things You Can Do to Freshen up Your Space During Spring Cleaning

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

If you’re anything like me, being inside more often because of colder weather takes a toll on your mental health. I always find myself going stir-crazy and needing a sense of change in my space. Cue me rearranging all my furniture and then losing all motivation before I’ve actually put anything in a new spot. Below, I have collected 5 easy (with no furniture rearranging) things you can do to make wherever you live feel fresh again.

1. Your bed

When’s the last time you washed your sheets? Maybe you’re way cleanlier than me and actually have a schedule for that, but it may be about time! And if you’ve already done that, what about those blankets in your living area? Can you remember the last time they’ve seen the inside of a washer?

2. your desk

I may be more of a mess than the average person, but my desk is always cluttered with random things. I like to scrapbook, so I always have random tickets, pictures, and stickers laying around without a designated spot. Clean out your drawers! Find a home for things that don’t have one. Throw out or donate stuff that you haven’t touched since the last time you cleaned out your desk. While you’re at it, give your laptop/tablet a wipe down and clean the germs that have been collecting off of there.

3. Your closet

I just recently cleaned out my closet and, gosh, does it feel good to actually be able to see all the clothes I own! Donate clothes you don’t wear, or try to sell them! Another good option is always to repurpose clothing that may just need a little upcycling. You could try cropping graphic t-shirts, turning jeans into shorts, or tie dying blank clothing.

4. your windows

When’s the last time you really went in and cleaned all of your windows? Grab some cleaner and get to work. Not having smudges on them will really brighten up your space and automatically make it seem cleaner! While you have the cleaner out, also check out your mirrors…

5. your bathroom

Cleaning the bathroom is my favorite. I love getting out of the shower and being able to have a mirror dance moment in a clean space, so I love to be the one to clean it. Clean your mirrors, toilet, sinks, and drawers out. Nothing is more “hot girl” than a clean, luxurious, bathroom.

Spring cleaning is so important for keeping yourself motivated during these cold months! Hopefully, these areas to focus on provide simple, fast ideas for keeping your space fresh and organized.
