Name: Ethan Williams (AKA Curly E)
Major/Graduation Year: Aerospace Engineering with a minor in business / May 2018
Hometown: Hutchinson
Relationship status: Happily in a relationship. She’s been putting up with me for almost four years now.
Favorite food: There’s this place in my hometown called Pizaacos and they serve these things called pizaacos (go figure) that are basically the love child of a pizza and a taco. They’re amazing and definitely my go to choice whenever I get the chance to go back home.
Best dad joke: My dad jokes are usually pretty situational, but the most recent one I can remember happened just the other day. Some friends and I were heading to Wescoe to grab some lunch, and one of them, pointing toward a truck with some sort of weird tank apparatus, asked “What’s that?” to which I instinctively answered, “That’s a truck bud.”
Favorite spot in Lawrence: This is really tough, but I’d probably have to say either Terrebonne on Vermont Street or Mass Street Soda. Terrebonne is one of my favorite lunch/dinner spots, but I almost always grab a soda whenever I end up on Mass, so it’s kind of a toss-up.
Favorite building on campus: Probably LEEP2 — as an engineering student, I feel like I never leave the place, but it’s really nice (except when the wifi goes down) so I really can’t complain. Wescoe comes in at a very close second though.
Dogs or cats: I’m definitely a dog person, which makes it tough to be away from home because my family just got a miniature schnauzer puppy named Watson who is probably the coolest little guy ever. But being three hours away, I’m stuck watching him grow up through my sister’s snapchat stories.
Favorite movie (and why): I’d probably have to go with either “Hot Rod” or “Anchorman,” both of which are hilarious. They both have a ton of quotables too, which is as important as pretty much any other criteria I can think of.
Favorite pastime: Well, when I have free time (rare), I’m probably either spending time with friends doing who knows what, or just kicking back watching some Netflix.
Best experience while at KU (so far): It’s really hard to try and just pick one thing, but probably the coolest experience I’ve had so far was getting to ride on the KU jet. I volunteered to be on the panel for one of the Jayhawk Road Show stops (in my home town of all places), but this particular one was on the first day of class. So, instead of making everyone drive six hours round trip and miss class, they authorized us to use the jet. Which, let me tell you, was dope.
