When it comes to Autumn, all things orange, red and yellow fill our minds with comfort and warmth. As we enter this new season and prepare for the cozy, romantic, and festive days to come, good song recommendations are always a must.
To start off the fall, I compiled a list of classic, reminiscent, and cozy songs that have gotten me into the fall spirit!
FYI: My music taste is quite basic and gloomy sometimes, but these songs are too amazing not to share.
LETS GET STARTED!
Â
•“Free-Fallin” (the John Mayer live version): if there was a song to describe the month of September, the warm air changing to a crisp breeze, and horse-riding at sundown, this is it.Â
•“Dirty AF1’s” by Alexander 23: For some reason, this song reminds me of how it would feel to have a summer fling… only to break up after summer ends because life gets in the way.
•“Exile” by Taylor Swift and Bon Iver: You are probably wondering why I didn’t include “cardigan”, but quite frankly, “exile” was my favorite song on the new Folklore album and I had to include it as a fall favorite.
•“ILYSB Stripped” by LANY: I had this song on repeat last fall and all it reminds me of is the amazing memories and friends I made last fall when starting my freshman semester. “My heart hurts” just thinking of all the great experiences I had last fall, and not being able to enjoy it the same this year.
•“A-Team” by Ed Sheeran: A classic that my 7th grade self would be screaming the lyrics to. This song puts me in the “cozy” fall spirit. I also went to an Ed Sheeran concert in October of 2018 and now it seems to be a song I am always jamming out to during the fall.
•“Wake me Up When September Ends” by Green Day: Would it even be fall if I didn’t include the most iconic song to ever exist? I play this song on the last day of September, and I will never stop doing that.
•“Bubbly” by Colbie Caillat: This is another classic that reminds me of being lazy on a cozy Sunday, covered in blankets, drinking hot cocoa and watching a Jennifer Aniston rom-com.
•“Be My Mistake” by The 1975: This song transmits the feeling of when you take an isolated walk in a colorful autumn forest and reminisce on being in love and feeling care-free. I’d say it’s one of the most underrated songs by The 1975, but it’s also because The 1975 is my favorite band and I love every one of their songs.
Â
•“Motion Sickness” by Phoebe Bridgers: Imagine taking a mid-fall road trip to a ghost town with a group of your closest friends and listen to this song while you are at it. There is just something so wholesome of playing this song with the windows down and a thought-free mind.
•“September” by Earth, Wind, Fire: Out of all songs, this one is definitely a must to add to your fall playlist. The vibes are immaculate. Plus, looking at all these songs, you may want something more upbeat to balance it out.
This playlist is a little on the softer and slower side of pop, indie, and rock music, so if those are not genres that you enjoy, some of these may not be the songs for you! That being said, these songs instantly jumpstart my mind into the autumn aesthetic and they are definitely worth a listen!
