What Happened to “SevenSuperGirls?”: From Kaelyn Wilkins’ Point of View

If you’re anything like me, your childhood was spent consumed by a screen at the start of YouTube. With creators like LDShadowlady, Jenna Marbles, and Good Mythical Morning- everyone had one channel they in someway felt connected to; a channel that brought comfort from the real world. For me, this was a channel called SevenSuperGirls.

SevenSuperGirls featured eight girls each posting videos once a week on their designated day; for me, my favorite was Kaelyn Wilkins, the Sunday Slot of the week. Wilkins had joined the channel at eleven years old and remained on the channel until she had turned seventeen.

On Feb. 2, 2025, Wilkins posted a short series to YouTube titled, “SevenSuperGirls Kaeyln Wilkins Experience: Part 1,” and soon after posted the subsequent Part 2.

To establish the premise of these videos, it’s important to understand that in August of 2018, the owner of the channel, SevenSuperGirls, was arrested “on suspicion of child sexual abuse,” BBC has reported.

I would highly recommend watching Wilkins’ videos as she gives the full explanation of her side of the story, and many details that I will not include. Instead, I want to introduce this story to those who may not be familiar.

When Wilkins was a young child, like most of us, she spent her childhood watching and idolizing the creators who posted fun content to their platforms. At around ten years old, she soon discovered the channel she watched was holding an opening casting call for girls within her age group to join one of the sister channels of SevenSuperGirls.

She was soon given the Sunday slot and began regularly creating content with her mother’s supervision.

For several years, she had a fun time posting and getting to know the other girls on the channel. Soon enough the channel had boosted into a large success to the point that brands and companies began reaching out to the owner of SevenSuperGirls for partnerships.

This is the point where things took a turn for Wilkins. By this time she was around 14 years of age.

These “sponsors,” as Wilkins called them, began fueling the rules that the owner Ian had set up for all of the girls. Declaring it was the “sponsors” that wanted these rules in place, and if not followed repercussions would ensue. These repercussions included, being exempt from brand trips (trips to the beach, boat parties, and even several occasions spent at Disneyland), any footage being filmed to be removed from the posted video, and he often threatened a permanent ban from the channel.

Many of the rules were irrational, and as time went on became more so. Some of these rules included:

  • Only filming or appearing with your assigned ‘partner’ among the girls on the channel
  • Only summer clothes, even in the winter season
  • No shoes- if wearing shoes, must be sandals
  • No makeup
  • No plucking of eyebrows
  • No bras or brassieres
  • No underwear when wearing leotards
  • No interacting with fans outside of the meet in greets
    • This included running into fans in the hallways
  • No solo photos with fans (only group pictures)
  • No uploading sponsored content to personal channels
  • Join a Skype chat with Ian, the owner, every day.

Please keep in mind that by this point, Wilkins was around 14-17 years old, nearing the prime of her teenage years, and the end point of her career on SevenSuperGirls. For her and most of the girls on the channel, it became hard to obey these rules- even against the threats he held against them.

On Wilkins’ 17th birthday, she made her departure from the channel, soon after,  Ian was arrested on accounts of child molestation during his time filming for SevenSuperGirls.

I highly encourage any reader to click on the links below to watch both of Kaelyn’s videos- she gives a complete in-depth to her side of the story in complete and transparent honesty.
