While my 21st is slowly but surely coming upon us, it has also been a time in my life where I begin to think of everything I’ve learned through the years. Though I might only be 20, I feel I have learned a bit that has helped shape me into the woman I am today.
1. People will judge and criticize you NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO.
For me, this is honestly the hardest pill I had to swallow. I feel I am the type of person who is willing to do ANYTHING for people, as long as I receive respect back. Learning that someone can not like you or see a problem with the way you do something can feel like a slap in the face. I’ve realize that you cannot please the whole world. If you are happy with what you’re doing and how you’re doing it, screw the rest and continue.
2. You CANNOT change a person.
When it comes to this lesson, I’ve learn that it’s important to focus on who you are as a person and how you may come off to others. Being the stubborn woman I am, I know I will never change my ways, my beliefs, or my personality for others. Why should someone do the same? What you see the first time with someone usually is not a lie. If you know there’s something you do not like about them, or something you feel you cannot stand next to, be strong enough to admit it and let it go,
3. Remind yourself how AWESOME YOU ARE!
I will stand up and say I am the first person who lacks self confidence. It might seem surprising, but there are days I literally nit pick and try to go into the smallest detail as to what is wrong with me. You have to remind yourself what your worth, what types of traits you possess, and how awesome you truly are. If people cannot see or appreciate any part of you, IT’S THEIR LOSS. You need to always wake up, count your blessings, and realize what makes you ‘you’ is amazing.
Lastly,
5. Don’t chase anything but drinks and dreams.
You are the only person who has FULL CONTROL over your life. Make sure you go after everything you want in this lifetime. No one else can do it for you. Push to reach every dream and put your full heart into it. It is important to remember that nothing can be accomplished if you aren’t willing to give yourself the mindset of “I Can” or “I Will.” Be strong, be curious, be daring, be loving, and always remember to have fun.
