Golden bears, we are halfway through the Fall semester. Can you believe it? Time has been flying, this year has really thrown some curveballs, and midterms are right around the corner, but somehow we’re still pushing through. Well, maybe. If you’re finding yourself in a mid-semester slump, here’s some tips on how you can get out of it.Â
Find motivation. I understand that sounds vague, but find something that resonates with you. Find something that will get you back into the groove of things. Whether it be to change up a step in your usual routine, spicing up your note taking, or putting on some music while you do your work, these are all small things that you can do to motivate yourself. Â
Switch up your scenery. Personally I always try to find new places to do work. If you’re crammed in your small room for an entire days’ worth of work, you’ll find yourself getting bored. If it’s a nice day out, do your assignments outside. Find a local park and work there. Even in the confines of your own home. Switch up which room you work in. By doing this it will boost your mood and make you work better. Â
Treat yourself. Be nice to yourself. Even if you have deadlines, find some time to take a break. Eat Chick Fil-A for dinner, take a break and go for a long walk, talk with your friends, watch an episode of your favorite show before getting back to work. Doing something nice for yourself will only recharge you and put you in a positive state of mind before diving back into work. Â
Remember your goals. When you’re working on an assignment, test, or project, remember that it isn’t just tomorrow’s assignment, next week’s test, or next month’s project, it’s preparing you for that degree. Stay mindful of the end result. The destination. Stay mindful of the future. Keep yourself on track. Hold yourself accountable.
Be patient, friends. Everything will get done as long as you put your mind to it. Finish the rest of the semester strong. You got this.
