As Halloween approaches, we are reminded of how we can’t enjoy it like we normally would. Despite not being able to spend it with a crowd of people, we can still enjoy this spooky night. There’s a full moon this Halloween, which screams the perfect time to watch horror movies. Pick up a cozy blanket and prepare yourself for a night full of screams and jump scares.

Train to Busan

My all-time favorite zombie movie is perfect for those who want something different from the usual gory zombie films. This movie revolves around a father and his daughter along with passengers on a train who must fight to survive as a zombie outbreak spreads across South Korea. This movie has a great balance of horror elements while also focusing on character growth. WARNING: Tissues are needed for this movie. A sequel for this movie, Peninsula, was released and is available to stream on October 27th.

I Am Legend

Will Smith stars as Robert Neville in this post-apocalyptic horror/thriller film. Neville is a scientist and lone survivor in New York City who attempts to find a cure. As he struggles to find a cure with his immune blood, he has to also fight against the mutants left behind with him.

World War Z

Brad Pitt stars in this film as he fights towards finding a cure in order to protect his family from the zombie outbreak that threatens to wipe out humanity. This movie is another one of my favorites, especially due to its fast-paced storyline that never has a dull moment.

Cargo

This great Netflix zombie film shows the heart-warming story of a father on a journey to find safety for his infant daughter. On this journey, he has to fight against the changes his body is undergoing due to the virus infection.

Zombieland

This film incorporates horror and comedy to create a nice balance for those who aren’t fans of anything too scary. In this post-apocalyptic world, four survivors come together in order to continue their fight against the undead. If you find yourself wanting more time with this dynamic quartet then you’re in for a treat with Zombieland: Double Tap.

Enjoy this Halloween by staying within the comfort of your home. You don’t need to go out to have fun. These movies may be seen as horror, but the real horror is seeing a group of people not following social distancing rules. Have a Happy Halloween the smart way.
