This week’s Campus Cutie just happens to be my former suitemate of two years AND sweetest friend here at ULV! Kelly is one of the most kind, generous, and optimistic woman I have ever met and is surely one of a kind! In fact, this morning Kelly and I volunteered on a farm for our Honors Senior Project picking up animal poop for THREE hours. We laughed, we encouraged each other, and we got down and dirty! (literally). She made this experience a fun one and three hours flew by with her by my side!
So without further ado, meet Kelly Sera!
Â
Major?:Â Child Development
Â
Dream job?: I have always wanted to be an early childhood education teacher! Getting to work with young children, you get to see their unique personalities which is incredibly fun. Young children are so bright and funny. When I spend time with them I feel like I am doing exactly what I am meant to do. Being able to help support children as they build their foundation for all future learning is so powerful, and I hope to help children reach their full potential, because they have so much of it!
Â
Three words that describe you:Â I would like to think that I am optimistic, hard-working, and kind.
Â
Favorite quote:Â “Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.” – Albert Einstein
Â
Favorite book?:Â “A Walk to Remember” by Nicholas Sparks – this is my favorite book and movie combo…does that count? (Hell yes it counts)
Â
What are your plans after graduation?: After graduation I plan on going straight into a Master’s and Teaching Credential Program. I don’t want to lose any momentum pursuing my education so I can work my dream job.  Â
Â
What’s your most favorite memory?: My best memory is lying in the sand on a beach in the Galapagos one night with my friend Jenna. Because we were in such a remote place so close to the Equator, we were looking up at both hemispheres of stars with very little light pollution, and it is easily one of the most breathtaking things I’ve ever seen.
Â
Best part about ULV?: The University of La Verne has provided me with amazing opportunities, incredible friends, and a sense of community that is unique to a small liberal arts college. I love being able to walk on campus and say hello to friendly faces, whether they be classmates, acquaintances, friends, and even professors. One of the best things about ULV is the small class sizes and being able to know professors personally, both of which contribute to awesome letters of rec when you need them. ULV is a great place to learn and grow, and I am so thankful for all that ULV has to offer.  Â
