The holidays are here! It’s time to unwind before another semester of school. With the holidays, however, comes plenty of food and no self restraint. Not only that, but your school gym isn’t a five minute walk away anymore, and gym memberships are so expensive. But, you don’t need a gym to get a good workout in throughout the week! Here’s exercises that you can do pretty much anywhere:
Core (6 pack anyone?)
A majority of core exercises don’t even need a gym honestly. Weights can be swapped out for pillows or books, just to name a couple. Here are some of my favorite core exercises:
-
Planks (try to go for as long as possible)
-
Sit-Ups (simple but extremely effective)
-
Russian Twists (one of the best ways to work your obliques)
-
Crunches with knees elevated at 90 degrees
Cardio
Again, cardio doesn’t need a treadmill or stairmaster to burn calories. Go for a run on a track, do some stair runs at a local stadium, or burn some calories with these simple exercises:
-
Burpees (with or without push up)
-
Mountain Climbers
-
Jumping Squats
-
Walking Lunges
-
Jump Rope
Legs (Insert peach emoji here)
While weights are effective for muscle growth, maintaining a workout routine can aid in toning muscles. This works especially for leg workouts. There are so many different exercises you can do to get a great leg workout, so here are a few of my favorite:
-
Pulsing Squats
-
Pulsing Lunges
-
Calf Raises
-
Glute Kickbacks
-
Hip Thrusts
-
B-Stance Hip Thrusts
I could really go on forever, but a gym or weights are not necessary for a good cardio burn. Take half an hour out of your day, and get your sweat on! And trust me, you’ll thank me by the end of the holidays.
