5 Festive Favourites For The Party Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lancaster chapter.

Christmas is nearly upon us and if you’re not excited then soz but we can’t be friends… Christmas is life, there is nothing better than the sparkle of tinsel, the glisten of snow and the smell of Christmas trees.  With the festive season comes festive parties and we all know a girls favourite part of a party is the getting ready, so here are some of my festive beauty faves for getting the perfect party look this year for your Christmas do.

1. Quick Fix Facials (£4.99)

I have been loving face masks this month, in the colder weather my skin freaks out and gets all dry and breaks out like a b*tch, so these facials have been a life saver! There is a whole range of ‘Quick Fix Facials’ for all different skin types but my two favourites are the Exfoliating Scrub Mask for blackheads and blocked pores and the Anti-Blemish Mud Mask for oily and spot prone skin.

The packaging states that you will get at least 10 facials out of the easily squeezable tubes and I believe this to be true! I bought these masks at the start of summer and they are still going strong and even better (especially for students) they are soooo affordable! YAY! Who doesn’t love a good bargain, particularly around the Christmas period when your bank account is slowly dying.

2. ST. MORIZ – Self Tanning Mousse Dark (4-6 hours ÂŁ4.99)

As we all know the day must come for your beautiful golden tan to fade and you become the pale, corpse looking snow white you once were and although some girls can pull of the gorgeous porcelain look *cough* Emma Stone *cough* I cannot. People are constantly saying ‘Maddy you’re looking pale, are you feeling okay?’ during the winter months and no I am not sick I am just too lazy to fake tan!  But, ha! I have the solution, this tan is THE best! I love it. The colour. The efficiency. and best of all the price!

3. Chanel – Le Vernis Nail Colour (in 475 Dragon £18.66)

As the nights are getting darker and the weather is getting colder I am back into loving my red nails for the festive season!  I am obsessed with the Chanel Nail Polishes as they have a beautiful range of colours and they are so pigmented and easy to apply…  Right, I know you’re all thinking ‘Maddy?! Where’s my bargain?’ And I get you girl, this nail polish is a little bit more pricey than most but they last a really long time (when was the last time you finished a bottle of nail polish?) and they look amazing on.   However, if you are looking for a dupe then the Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Blood Orange is perfect and only ÂŁ3.99!!   (Festive Fact: Nail polishes make fab stocking fillers)

4. L’Oreal Infallible 24Hour Lip colour (ÂŁ9.99)

I am obsessed. That’s all I really have to say. The colour is fab, what you see in the bottle is what you get on the lip, I have the colour ‘Invincible Sable’ which is a gorgeous brown nude. It’s so neutral and goes with any outfit or makeup look. Perfect for the festive season.

5. MaxFactor – Wild Shadow Pencil 2 in 1 Gel Shadow + Liner (Caramel Rage – ÂŁ5.99)

I think this is the perfect base for a golden bronze brown smokey eye for any Christmas get together. I love how easy it is to apply, it is so smooth and creamy and the pigmentation is amazing!! I have most recently being using it as a base but I have also used it as a liner and it really gives a bronze smokey eye.
