2018, I’ve decided, is going to be a good year. This is not because of any particular experiences, it’s just a mindset I’m going to take. It’s also my year of graduating university so exciting changes are happening!
I’ve decided this year is the year that I focus on myself and focus on a routine. Last year I got into really bad habits of missing meal times, especially breakfast and not going to bed till early the next morning. I decided 2018 was going to finally be the year I got my daily routine organised.
I started off with focusing on getting to bed at a sensible time. My aim was to stop working at 9pm. Watch TV for a bit then do some yoga and get into bed for 10pm and once I’ve finally put my phone down, have lights out by 11pm. Even this took a while as I was used to working up right till I went to bed so it has taken my body a bit of time to get adjusted.

The next step was a morning alarm…or three. Each at ten minute intervals starting from 7am. The last alarm I changed to a different song/ noise so I knew that it was a “get up now!!” situation. This has helped because I’m actually productive in the mornings now and it gives me chance to get hungry for breakfast.

The next routine change I made was regarding fitness. The aim was to do yoganuary which involves doing yoga everyday in January (Check out Cat Meffan on Youtube). And actually go to the gym or do some exercise everyday.

So far just changing these three things have helped my mind set so much, making me ready to start this new year and a new term at university.
