Last year, it was revealed that Netflix would be bringing a brand-new show to their streaming service called I Am Not Okay With This (IANOWT for short). Now, less than a week away from its release, we have put together a list of everything you need to know about the show!
- It’s based on a graphic novel of the same name
-
IANOWT was originally a graphic novel by author Charles Forsman that follows the life of teenager Syd as she struggles with everything from high school and her best friend Dina’s creepy boyfriend, to her sexuality and, to top it all off, some telekinetic superpowers.
It was recently revealed that while the show does stick to the basics of the novel, some of the more graphic plots and twists will be subdued and changed.
- Some well-known Netflix directors and producers are on board
-
While the show might be a new addition to Netflix, its direction and production team have worked on some well-known and beloved Netflix shows. IANOWT and End of the F**cking World both share the same director, a fact that makes a lot of sense looking at the clips we’ve seen so far. The producers of the show even worked on the cult favourite Stranger Things.
- The cast also features some familiar faces (amongst some newbies)
-
If you’ve seen either of the newest adaptions of Stephen King’s IT then you’re likely to recognise two faces in IANOWT. The show is fronted by two actors from the movies: Sophia Lillis plays main character Syd in the show, while her friend and neighbour Stanley is played by Wyatt Oleff. If you didn’t know, Lillis played young Beverly Marsh in both of the IT movies while Oleff played the role of a young Stanley Uris. Yes, his name is Stanley in both projects, and yes, fans were quick to notice.
As well as hosting these familiar talents, IANOWT also boasts the likes of upcoming talent. Sofia Bryant will be playing Syd’s best friend and crush, Dina, as well as Richard Ellis who will play Dina’s boyfriend.
- The show comes out on February 26th!
-
Every episode of IANOWT will be released together on the 26th of this month, meaning you can savour the episodes over a week or binge the entire thing in a day. Personally, I’ll be going for the latter.
