Happy Week 16 Lancaster students! Finally, we are half-way through term. If you’re anything like us, you’re also swamped with work and just trying to make it through the end of each day without a technological (or even psychological) mishap! So, here we are sharing 5 ways we love to keep motivated and focused on our goals. Let’s look on the bright-side of life.
1. All About the Visuals
Write it out, print it off, stick it up. Things tend to go into your brain the more you look at them. Not all people are visual learners, but it can’t not help to remind you of either certain tasks, your motivation and your goals. Make everything visual as possible, to your own taste, and play with your visual creativity every now and then!
2. Week by Week
Break things up into manageable chunks by looking at the academic term week by week – that way you avoid being overwhelmed and things will look a lot clearer. Schedule in what is solid: lectures, seminars etc., then add-in your meetings and plans. Don’t forget to give yourself gym time, and down-time, as well as 100% me-time!
3. Pin It Up
Just like making things visual, pinning things up can make a nice feature in your bedroom. After a term and a half, I have finally printed off some photos and pegged them to some string whch hangs like bunting on my bedroom wall – the photos serve as the loveliest pick-me-up when I’m feeling down, and also remind me of why I am working so hard and so diligently. You could either pin up photos or motivational quotes, whatever sets your mind back on your goals.
4. Morning Madness
We all love a lie-in, right? Right. But they often make us less productive for the rest of the day. Instead, wake up around 7 or 8am, take a shower, eat a healthy breakfast, and get to university. Or, start some studying from your bedroom. You will find you have a burst of energy in the morning, and it’s worth not letting that go to waste! Never let a morning slip you by, you’ll enjoy the rest of the day if you’ve been productive and positive from the get-go.
5. Happiness is Key
Be happy! Yes, we totally accept that happiness is just an emotion, but being happy helps us achieve. When we’re more positive, we’re more productive, and more likely to push on through to get things done. There’s nothing worse than being down in the dumps, and if you are feeling like that and can’t find a way back up, reach out to someone whether it’s a friend or even a university tutor. Reach for the stars (yes, I said it) and be as hapy as you can be!
Have a great Week 16, may it be productive and happy!
