As someone who has fully come out within the last year, I have been seeking more queer media representation. I am still on the lookout for more shows, movies and books, but these are 3 shows so far that I have watched and really liked.

Heartstopper

I am sure nobody is surprised that this made it to the list. I am also sure almost everyone has seen this and or read the graphic novels. It really is just that good. It is so wholesome and cute, while also addressing and validating some of the struggles the queer community goes through. Although there is no set date for when season 2 will air, it is said to be sometime this year which is exciting!

Motherland: Fort Salem

I actually haven’t seen all of this show, but I finished the first season. This is more a fantasy show and is definitely darker. The queerness of this show picks up right away, and while it isn’t the vocal point, it is continuous. It’s more subtle, but still makes me feel seen. It is also more for older audiences as there are some heavy themes in the show.

Atypical

I know I am sooo late to the Atypical train, but hey, I made it on and I understand the hype. While there are definitely some parts of the show that are interesting and could have been done better, overall it is not only a great representation of the queer community, it also has great representation of the autistic community. While the queerness of this show is much more of a slow burn, it really shows how different everyone’s journey is. Moreover, there is a slight enemies to friends to lovers arc that happens, which y’all already know I love.
