Numbers are a symbolic language we learn very early on in life. They become our every day: calendars, ages, money, counting, etc. We see numbers every time we look at a clock to tell the time to someone. Something I decided to ask this past week was “What are Lasell student’s favorite numbers?” I was curious because everyone has a favorite number, whether they realize it or not. Maybe it has a sentimental factor or maybe it’s simply a number they find pleasant to look at. The answers I got were both surprising… and not. Now, I am going to rate those numbers, based only on the number’s face value.Â
Lasell’s Answers:
The Top Number: 7
Second Place: 8
Third Place: 3
Fourth Place: 4
Fifth Place: 13
Sixth Place: 6
Seventh Place through Seventeenth Place: 1, 5, 10, 15, 16, 17, 21, 23, 29, 37, 58
My Top 5:
My Top: 7
I’m biased because 7 is my favorite number as well, but personally, I just believe 7 is an absolutely great number. There’s something about it that is very pleasing to the eye.Â
My second: 21
This just makes sense, doesn’t it? 21 rolls off of the tip of the tongue, it simply looks cool. 21 is the kind of number that gives off “cool guy” vibes. As if it would wear a leather jacket and ride a motorcycle.Â
My third: 6
6 seems sweet and innocent. It’s the kind of number that would bake cookies and cake for a picnic, or bring you soup when you’re sick. There’s nothing bad about this number, it exists to bring joy.Â
My fourth: 37
This is another number that tickles my brain the right way. It gives cool nerdy vibes, like someone who would help you with your math homework purely because they enjoy math.Â
My fifth: 58
Now, I picked 58 as the last in my Top 5 purely for the vibes. This is a very random number that doesn’t really come to mind often, but when it does it feels solid. It is a wise number that has been through a lot, but it’ll always be there for you. If you ever need a number to rely on, think about 58.Â
