Blue Jays Light Up Lasers

The Lasell women’s basketball team took on the University of Saint Joseph’s, the USJ Blue Jays on February 4, 2014. After winning the opening jump, junior forward Alexis Chappell notched the first basket of the game. The Lasers wavered between leading USJ by two points and having the score tied until sophomore Molly Lauver sunk her first three-pointer of the night. Eventually USJ pulled ahead of Lasell, gaining their first lead of the night and making it a score of 14-13.

The two teams ended the first half with USJ on top 34-25. Entering the second half, USJ came out strong making 17 of their 38 shots and four out of eight free throws. Lasell went 16 for 32 in the second half and made five out of seven free throws. The Lasers fell to USJ with a final score of 71-59.

Chappell played 34 out of the allotted 40 minutes and led both teams with 18 total points. There were 54 people in attendance at the Tuesday night game.

Lasell (9-10) takes on Johnson & Wales (6-14) on February 1 in Rhode Island for a conference matchup.

Angela is a senior communication major with a concentration in public relations, and is double minoring in legal studies and sports communication. She studied in Washington, D.C. during the Spring 2016 semester. Angela has interned with McGovern Law and the Washington Ballet. She once was in the same press conference as President Obama. When not in class, she can be found in the Brennan Library studying, in the one of the gyms on campus or taking a nap. Angela is a sports lover, buffalo chicken enthusiast, and future master sommelier.
