Like most people around here, I’m a Celtics fan. Boston, am I right? After a great run last season, I have high hopes for the team’s performance this season. On Wednesday, October 5th, the Celtics were home playing the Houston Raptors in a preseason game. I was lucky enough to be able to go, and I was beyond excited. I got my Larry Bird jersey on, grabbed my bag, and headed to TD Garden.
If you watch sports news, you probably already know how the basketball game turned out. The Celtics lead every single quarter, once leading by 19 points! The stadium went crazy as the buzzer went off and there was going to be three minutes of overtime, and what did the Celtics do with that? They lost 125 to 119. Jaylen Brown did not disappoint, putting up 23 points on the board. Not far behind him was Sam Hauser with 22 points! Tatum came in with a semi-respectable 18 points, with Pritchard trailing him at 17. I feel like the entire game they were lying to us, taunting the points in our faces, just to drop it on purpose during overtime. I know it was just a preseason game, but to let an easy home win slip through the cracks like that was unacceptable in my opinion.
Let’s talk about something a bit more exciting than their lackluster performance. The stadium refreshments! We started off the night with a footlong hot dog, delicious! My 23 year-old game companion paired it with a Blue Moon. Our second course was a large buttered popcorn with lots of water. And then, sitting in front of us, these girls had pizza slices the length of their arm, so I HAD to have one. I tapped on their shoulder and asked where they got it, and at halftime you know I charged my way through the crowd for an arms length slice of pepperoni pizza. She was gorgeous, perfectly cupped, with crunchy pepperoni, delicious crust, and melty cheese…What more could you ask for?
Although the game ended on a sour note, the food was great, the crowd was so fun, and we got on the big screen! I have been attending sports games for years now, and that is the first time I have ever been on the big screen; I don’t know how much truth there is to this, but one of my friends from home said they saw me while watching the game on TV! Either way, it was such an amazing night, and I can’t wait to go back!
