Dorm Room V-Day Desserts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

Have access to a microwave? Try these super easy treats to spruce up your V-Day weekend at school!

  • Chocolate Covered Strawberry Wafers- Microwave white chocolate for 30 second intervals, stirring in between, use red food coloring if you want to dye the chocolate pink. Dip strawberry wafers into the chocolate and add fun sprinkles on top. You can also do this with almost anything like Oreo’s, Ritz crackers, or pretzel rods.
  • Strawberry Brownie Ka-Bobs- On a skewer, alternate strawberries, brownie bites, and marshmallows, finishing with drizzled chocolate. You can use this idea for a variety of things including raspberries, angel food cake, or donut holes.
  • Valentine Marshmallow Treats- Make Rice Krispie Treats as you do normally, and add  melted white chocolate to the top, followed by pink chocolate drizzles (add a bit of red food coloring to the remaining melted chocolate). The heart shapes can be cut with a cookie cutter or by hand. The arrows are made simply with toothpicks and pink paper glued on with the chocolate.
  • Strawberry Valentine Chex Mix- Microwave a bag of white chocolate chips and then mix in 4 tablespoons of strawberry pudding mix to the melted batch. The pudding powder will not change the color so add food coloring if you want. Blend a box of Chex Mix cereal into the mixture and add in sprinkles and/or M&Ms. Lay the finished product flat on wax paper to cool. Note: If you can’t find strawberry flavored pudding, you can try other flavors like banana or coconut.
  • Cupid’s Crunch Popcorn- There’s room for lots of creativity in this recipe. The main step is to add any flavor of melted chocolate to plain or buttered popcorn. From there on, it is your own recipe. You may want to add melted caramel, almonds, and pretzels, or make it a s’mores popcorn by adding marshmallows and Golden Grahams. Of course, the key to making this a Valentine’s Day dessert is adding pink and red with either food coloring in the chocolate, pink and red M&Ms, awesome sprinkles, or all of the above. You could even make this a hot popcorn by using spicy candy like Hot Tamales or cinnamon hearts.
