With Valentine’s Day approaching, it is time to decorate our rooms with pink and red! However, I know it can sometimes be hard to find decorations at a convenient price, so why not make something to add some love to your dorm or home? Here are three simple, yet fun ways to decorate for this season of love.
Heart Garlands
Garlands are a great and easy way to decorate your doorframe or walls. For this simple craft, all you need is paper of your color preference, string, scissors, and a hole puncher. You will cut your string as long as you want it to be, then tie a loop in one end (to hang it from later). Next, start cutting your hearts, and hole-punching the middle top area. You can then add the hearts to the string, and keep them secure by tying. If you do not want to use paper, there are also other options such as felt, or stuffed fabric if you like to sew. These garlands are a perfect way to spruce up your room for Valentine’s Day!
Heart Wreath
This is a beautiful way to spread the love on your dorm door. All you will need is a heart-shaped wreath (which you can find at Michael’s), any pink or red fake flowers which can also be found at Michael’s, and a hot glue gun. Once you have these supplies, the rest is up to your own personal creativity. Once your piece is completed, you can hang it outside your door for all to see.
Heart Dream Catcher
Dream catchers are a lovely addition to any room looking for more decor, and these are especially wonderful for the Valentine’s season. Whether they be for yourself or for your friends, I will explain how to go about easily making these. The supplies you will need to purchase are wire and yarn of any color you want. Here is an option on the cheaper side for college students: Amazon Yarn. Once you have these items, you can shape the wire into a heart shape and cut it once it is twisted to stay in place. Next, you can wrap your yarn around the wire to cover it up, then web the yarn within the heart. Feel free to have fun with this and add more than one color!
With these DIY decorations, your room can be filled with just as much love as you are. The most important part of these projects is to just have fun with it. The more personalized they are, the better!
