This weeks Campus Cutie has been a long time coming. Ever since he stepped on campus in his first year, he’s been turning heads. You might remember seeing his face on the rugby pitch, his past experience working with the Second Step Imagine program, or just strutting around campus. Nick Lucido is our Cutie this week for more reasons than this.
He cares for the people around him an astronomical amount. He always puts those in his life, and their feelings, above his own. He shows this through friendships, relationships and in his work with Lasell Says Thank You. He had his first experience with LSTY last semester and it prompted him to apply for a leadership position in the coming semester, which he was granted unquestionably.
When he believes in something, he supports it with everything he has. A perfect example is how Lucido plans to spend this coming Thanksgiving break. He’ll forego the traditional festivities of turkey and stuffing, and instead head down to Plymouth for the annual American Indian Services honoring the National Day of Mourning. It is acts like this that Lucido has peppered throughout his life that makes him who he is. To him, equality is not a question, it’s a mandate.
He hopes that his sociology major will bring him into the world of social work allowing him to work with at-risk adolescent youth, but he admits that this has the possibility to change, saying that his true goal for his current life and future is to first be a “successful student, then a productive member of society.”
When asked the question, “what would you do if you had all the money in the world,” his answer was refreshingly honest and simple. He would get his affairs in order, buy a house, land and pay everything off. Then he would donate the rest to a cause he believes in.
Gents like Lucido are few and far between. He remains one of Lasell’s finest and that won’t be changing anytime soon.
Happy 21st Birthday, Nick!
