If any of you watched the Super Bowl this year, you all remember Rihanna’s iconic show. In the days awaiting the show, we were all curious about which songs she would perform, what the set would look like, what she would wear, etc. Also, let’s give some respect to the fact that Rihanna is pregnant with her second child, and has a baby at home, yet she left home to perform in front of thousands of people.
We all expected Rihanna to play her big hits, like Diamonds, and Umbrella, but I don’t think any of us expected the amazing show she proceeded to put on. Rihanna’s setlist also included Only Girl (In the World), We Found Love, Work, Where Have You Been, along with multiple others. I think what made her performance of these songs even better was that it was formed into a medley. The crowd had no way of knowing what song would be next, or what songs she would even perform at all.
Another part of Rihanna’s halftime show that blew America’s minds was the set, including rising platforms, flashing lights, and lots and lots of backup dancers. The show started with Rihanna on a raised platform at the center of the stadium, with other platforms surrounding her, with dancers all in white. The continual changing of the set, and where Rihanna was standing, made the performance so much more entertaining to watch.
I believe the most impressive part of this year’s halftime show was the fact that Rihanna is pregnant and performing in front of thousands of people. Not only is she pregnant, but she has her first baby at home as well. She must have been busy, and physically exhausted. However, Rihanna proceeded to put on one of the best halftime shows I think I have seen in my lifetime.
