Netflix on a Snow Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

Imagine your biggest wish has come true. You wake up to an email or text message saying that classes have been canceled due to a snowstorm. Tears of joy gather in your eyes when you realize that you have the entire day to rest, relax, and most importantly, watch Netflix. In case this dream comes true this winter season, here are a few Netflix shows that you could binge watch on a snow day.

For the Adventure / Drama Fanatics-

If you’re into dramas that follow the lives of criminals or drug lords, Orange is the New Black and Narcos will satisfy your needs. If you are into both scenarios mixed with a bit of family drama, Shameless may be the show for you. For the sci-fi lovers out there, make sure to watch Stranger Things, a fairly recent Netflix original series that follows the investigation of a missing boy leading to revelations of government experiments involving supernatural forces.

For the Teen Drama Fanatics-

Three of the best dramas that follow the intriguing lives of teenagers are One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, and 90210, hands down. If you and your bestie want to binge-watch one of these series, Gossip Girl would be the best option as you’ll follow the infamous friendship of Blair Waldorf and Serena Van Der Woodsen. The hectic city life doesn’t suit your fancy? Watch One Tree Hill. One Tree Hill will leave you with a hometown feel mixed with the love of basketball and brotherly love.

For Family Show Fanatics-

If you watch any of these shows on a snow day you may get a little bit of deja vu. Which shows am I referring to? Fuller House and One Day at a Time. Who wouldn’t want to know what happened to America’s sweethearts DJ and Stephanie Tanner, as well as their quirky next door neighbor Kimmy Gibbler? One Day at a Time is one of the most recent Netflix original series. The series follows the lives of a divorced Latina military mother who is raising two children with her traditional Cuban mother. This series is slightly based off of the 1970s series One Day at a Time that also focused on the life of a divorced mother and her two daughters.

For Sitcom Show Fanatics-

Last but not least, three of the most classic shows to binge watch on Netflix are Friends, Gilmore Girls (including the revival), and How I Met Your Mother. If you enjoy comical sitcoms centralized on the experiences of friends who meet up at their favorite coffee shop or bar, then How I Met Your Mother and Friends are the shows for you. If you enjoy witty banter, fast-paced conversations and endless dialogue between a young single mother and her teenage daughter, then Gilmore Girls will satisfy your needs. You could even continue and watch what happens to this dynamic duo in the Gilmore Girls Revival series, produced by Netflix.

Now that you have all of these options to binge-watch, all we need is to cross our fingers and hope for another snow day in the near future.
