Tomorrow is the day where speakers Sheila Nutt and two others will join Lasell’s She’s The First chapter for their Leadership Conference, so make sure you come to support a great cause!
Dr. Sheila E. Nutt, Director of Educational Outreach Programs,Office for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership, will be speaking at the conference as she is the Lasell overseer. Nutt is incredibly accomplished, as she has graduated with her Bachelors form UMass, a M.Ed and her EdD from Boston University, and has an additional Masters from Harvard Divinity School.
In the past, Sheila has worked as a flight attendant, the Director of Educational Outreach at the Ethiopian Family Center, Inc., where she created curriculum and workshops for Ethiopian refugees on job training and English language skills, and she was also the Director of Multicultural Affairs at Emmanuel College.
During her work with Ethiopia, Nutt lived in Addis Ababa for over ten years, accomplishing a lot of humanitarian work like college counseling and helped educated young people to prevent STDs. In addition, The late Patriarch of The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Abune Paulos,appointed her as the first female And non-Ethiopian to lecture at the EOTC School of Theology in Addis Ababa where young men are trained to become priests.
Before returning to America, Nutt was able to serve as the Residence Manager for the American Ambassador to Ethiopia, Her Excellency, Aurelia Brazeal. Sheila enjoys watching vintage movies and reading, and is taking acting classes and thinking about a future career as an actress. Currently, Sheila is working on an anthology of stories about a select group of African American women who Became Pan American World Airways flight attendants in the 1960’s & 70’s. Nutt occasionally blogs under “Notes from The Nutt House” and “Pan Am Blackbirds.” With her diverse professional and academic background, Sheila is a speaker you won’t want to miss.
