With the releases of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the prequel to the Hunger Games franchise; I have noticed a resurgence in Josh Hutcherson’s popularity online. His role in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie and a reignited obsession with The Hunger Games has launched the actor back into the spotlight. As a fan myself, I have enjoyed seeing this revival unfold and am strongly considering reentering my Hunger Games phase as well.
Particularly, I have seen videos of Josh Hutcherson all over my TikTok feed. During one of the numerous occasions where I’m relaxing and watching TikTok videos, I suddenly came across clips from a fan-made edit of him set to the song “Whistle” by Flo Rida. The entire video is just a montage of photos of Hutcherson with the song lyrics displayed on the screen. Users on TikTok tend to take the first few seconds of the video and insert them somewhere into a TikTok video so that the viewer is caught by surprise when it shows up on their screen. While I am not denying that the video is funny and will probably cement itself as an iconic meme, it has been showing up EVERYWHERE on my feed and I simply cannot escape it.
All jokes aside, I’m not mad that the unearthing of something so simple like a fan-made edit has led to a renewal of the fandom surrounding Josh Hutcherson. The amount of content related to the release of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has restarted interest in the original book and movie series. Because of that, people are remembering various iconic moments from the movies (such as this scene) and how incredible the series as a whole is; which is of course due in part to the amazing acting performances of Josh Hutcherson and the entire cast.
We have entered the Josh Hutcherson revival, and I, for one, am here for it.
