There is not much night life when you grow up in a small town. I am 21 years old, and have never stepped foot inside of a club. That’s probably because I only saw them through a screen up until recently… So let me tell you what you might do instead to get that nightlife fix. The first thing that comes to mind is the classic, get in the car with your friends and drive around while listening to music. Every person I have talked to who grew up in a small town has done this a multitude of times.
Another personal favorite of mine would be the very small basement party at that one guy’s house who you don’t know pretty much at all. These can be super fun because they involve a lot of BO, awkward teenage boys, and horrible cheap drinks ;). In these situations, someone’s mother or father always ends up coming home and making the ending to the night not only abrupt, but super awkward.
However, the best night-time pastime in a small town is going to the park with the playground set at your old elementary school. This is really fun because you can stand there in the dark and maybe play on the playset, even though it’s just not the same as when you were a kid. If you couldn’t tell already, I am mostly kidding about these things taking the place of nightlife. However, these are real things kids in small towns do and I wanted to display why many of us cannot function in a nightlife setting. These are things I never hope to do again, but will look back upon fondly as I experience real nightlife.
