Studio Ghibli’s animations never disappoint when it comes to perfect aesthetics and amazing storylines.

1. Spirit Away (2001)

Are you in the mood for a relaxing adventure? This film fits just that as the animation takes place in the animal spirit world. The story begins when a young girl named Chihiro and her parents stumble across an abandoned amusement park, and they start to see supernatural surprises. When one surprise turns her parents into animals, she meets a boy named Haku, who helps her throughout the rest of her journey in the spirit world. The exciting yet calm environment of this film is perfect for some late-night relaxation after a long day.

2. My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

This studio’s classic tells a story about young sisters who settle into their new home in the countryside. While exploring their new home, they come across a large, fluffy, friendly animal named Totoro. You may recognize this animal from the film’s iconic rain scene with Totoro carrying a large leaf umbrella. Sit back and relax as Totoro’s cuteness melts all your worries away.

3. Ponyo (2008)

If you love beachy films, this movie that takes place on the seashore will be right up your alley. This is the story of an ocean princess who takes the form of a fish. She encounters a boy named Sosuke who gives her the name Ponyo. As their friendship evolves, Ponyo’s human features evolve as well. This animation’s beach visuals make you relive your sunny beach days of summer. The film’s art style and love able characters will have your heart warm with nostalgia and longing for the beach.

4. Kiki’s Delivery Service (1990)

The film’s dreamy seaside town tells the story of what should have been a simple night. The plot follows the main protagonist Kiki and explores her witch abilities. After Kiki moves into the seaside town, she creates a flying messenger service in her new community. Each character that makes an appearance gives you another reason that explains why Studio Ghibli films are so beloved.
