Everyone says that graduation sneaks up on you fast, and while you believe them to an extent, you don’t realize just how quickly it comes. Even as I sit here writing one of my last pieces for Her Campus, focusing on my graduation and the path that led me here, it still doesn’t feel quite real. Along with many other students who have attended school within the last four years, it hasn’t exactly been a steady ride. For me, I knew that transferring schools after my freshman year was not going to be easy, but I would have no idea how tough it really would be with the arrival of COVID and lockdowns. The heightened stress of navigating these four undergraduate years felt impossible to me, yet evidently, I made it through and am so close to the finish line. While so many things have changed over these years, I have had a few constants that have kept me grounded and allowed me the stability to continue on, one of the biggest of these being my involvement and leadership within Her Campus.
When I first joined Her Campus as a freshman, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was excited at the promise of an accepting group of strong women to help guide me through school. I was not disappointed with the result. As I sat down and searched for a school to apply to transfer to, I thought, what was important to me? I am so incredibly grateful that I finally found and was excited about a school with another Her Campus chapter. My freshman year Her Campus experience brought me friendships and social opportunities, and I was excited to be able to experience that again here at Lasell. I had no idea that I was going to find a family within this chapter.
Through this chapter, I have met roommates, mentors and mentees, and friends that I am hoping to keep in contact with for years to come. I have made incredible connections with girls that I might have otherwise never even met. While so many of us in this chapter have different likes, dislikes, hobbies, and interests, we have all been able to bond over at least one common goal: to find connections with one another and spread kindness and love inside and outside of our chapter. From all of this, I want to say thank you to Her Campus for providing me with this constant good in my life. I want to say thank you to the girls that have graduated before me that have motivated me to rise up within the club and share my ideas. I want to say thank you to the girls that are going to continue to make the chapter such a warm and inviting place even after I have graduated. Finally, I want to say thank you to the remarkable group of girls that I was lucky enough to serve on the E-Board with for proving me with love, grace, and inspiration. HCXO!
