5 Inexpensive Things to Do to Celebrate Valentine’s Day
The big day is upon us. February 14th is a loved and hated day by many. Social media is filled with adorable things people’s SOs have done with them or girls posting pics with their gal pals with the hashtag #galentinesday. Either way Valentine’s Day is just a day, but you should be spent spreading the love whether you are in a relationship or single and ready to mingle ;)
So here are five inexpensive things you can do whether you have an SO or celebrating the single life…
1. Go to the movies
There are tons of great movies coming out. Fifty Shades Darker is great if you’re in the mood for something hot and steamy. Or Hidden Figures if you’re looking for a movie with a historical background that’s all about girl power. And A Dog’s Purpose, that looks like I’ll be balling my eyes out the entire time.
Who doesn’t love popcorn and a movie?
2. Make a special dessert and EAT it
Whether you make cookies, brownies, or cake, it doesn’t really matter. Get creative in the kitchen and whip up something sugary that’s just good for the soul. Feel free to share, but it’s not required.
3. Drive around at night with your favorite playlist blasting
You could do this with a boyfriend, group of friends, or by yourself. Hop in the car and make sure you have a playlist filled with fun throwback songs… I’m talking Jessie McCartney or the latest hits. Sing at the top of your lungs and see how many times the people in the car lanes next to you join in on your jam sesh.
4. Go out for drinks and appetizers
There is a lot of pressure to dress up and go out to a fancy restaurant, but it’s not necessary. Certain restaurants have late night specials or half priced appetizers and drink specials depending on the day of the week and night that you go. *Hint Hint* Tully’s after 9PM has half priced appetizers on weekdays.
5. Game night
Gather a group of friends and dish out some good old board games. I used to play board games every weekend with my neighborhood friends and this is something I greatly miss. It could be anything as simple as Clue. There are tons of games you can also play with a deck of cards and the rules are often posted online.
Grab the games, friends, and some beer and you are good to go.
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day whether your single, married, it’s complicated, or don’t really care.
