Meet Brendon! He’s a junior transfer student in his first year at Le Moyne!
HC: How do you like Le Moyne so far? What’s your favorite thing about it?
B: I like it a lot, it’s definitely more than I expected in a good way. I transferred from OCC, and the overall atmosphere at Le Moyne is happier and people are more pleasant. It’s pretty similar though, the teachers are great at both colleges, but the students vary from OCC to Le Moyne. The students at OCC are mainly commuters, and at Le Moyne most students live on campus so it’s kind of flip flop from OCC. My favorite thing about Le Moyne is everybody is very kind even if they’ve never seen you before. Everybody holds open doors for you, and here you can not know someone and be friends with them 2 days later. There are a lot of activities, like sports, clubs and intramurals, so there’s always something to do.
HC: You mentioned you play basketball. What position did you play, and can you tell us more about how you got into it?
B: I play power forward. I started playing basketball when I was 3 or 4. I just started naturally, shooting baskets on a mini hoop. It escalated into elementary school. I’ve always been one of the tallest guys in my grade, so my ability to get the ball in the basket was always there. Everyone in my family has always played basketball as well.
HC: What’s one thing most people here don’t know about you?
B: I own over 250 pairs of sneakers. My sneaker collection has been featured on websites and blog pages. I try to wear them all, but there are pairs I’ve had for 2 or 3 years I still haven’t worn. It stemmed from playing basketball and just wanting to have more shoes, and then I just became addicted to it. Nike and Jordan are my favorite brands. It also helps that I work at a sneaker store (Foot Action at Destiny).
