Swag Swiping Part 1: How To Deal
We’ve all been there, and have been a victim before. Whether its a friend or just someone you’ve greeted on occasion, when your swags’ swiped you know it. Typically described in urban dictionaries as a slang term that defines someone’s personal style and appearance, our swag dictates who we are and how others perceive us. You notice she is now wearing the same hairstyle you coined on Campus a few weeks ago, or she’s now rocking the nail polish she just recently complemented you on; but now what?
Say Something
Either provide a compliment are make a sarcastic comment. Complimenting her new change in appearance will alert her that she’s now been spotted and maybe next time she’ll be more hesitant to bite off your style. A remark along the lines of “I love your embroidered jacket, it looks just like the denim I’ve been wearing all semester now!” will suffice.
Say Nothing
They say imitation is the best form of flattery. Whoever “they” were, they mustn’t have been a college girl striving for uniqueness amongst thousands of undergrads. But its worth noting, this age old proverb originates from humbling beginnings. When someone compliments you on a bag and days later you notice they’ve purchased an identical bag, pat yourself on the back. You inspire.
Switch It Up
They’re watching. You stroll into class and all eyes are focused upon you, and you notice a few ladies are taking a mental note of your style choices, its time to switch it up! Once you’ve noticed attempted swag swiping this creates the perfect atmosphere for you to began some exploration. Try different hairstyles, visit stores you don’t usually shop in and you may discover new lovely things.
