Fashion Blog: HC Winter Style – That’s a wrap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Leeds chapter.

It’s official, the clocks have gone back (yay!) the leaves have fallen and it is definitely feeling nippy outside, meaning winter is ceremoniously upon us.

It has been creeping up on us for a while and despite doing my best to avoid this, with November just around the corner it is time to face the fact and fully embrace winter, coughs and all.

Instead of focusing on the negatives of winter I have decided to welcome the cold weather and shortened days with open arms. One thing I do look forward to is being able to layer up and wear thick scarves and woolly hats! Here are a few that I have my eye on…

If you don’t already have one, it is due time you invest in a beanie to keep your head warm this season. Beanies have been a big trend this year and have been warming the heads of fashion’s most desirable. Cara Delevingne is not only famous for those impressive brows (and I guess a prettyimpressive modeling career!) but also for her extensive collection of novelty beanie hats.

You can channel your inner Cara with this fun beanie from Lazy Oaf atAsos. The beanie Cara is wearing (below) was from the online shop Black Score and instantly sold out. However, this Asos alternative will cost you £20 and will definitely get you noticed around campus. Beanies are a big winner this year as they are very multi-functional, keeping you warm, dry and effortlessly cool.

One thing I find with winter is that all my clothes begin to look a little drab and worn and I often feel like my wardrobe reflects the miserable weather outside. A fur scarf or stole instantly lifts an outfit and turns you from glum to glam in seconds! They are all over the high street at the moment and can be worn with so many different outfits. This Topshop black faux fur stole (below) has been in my online shopping basket for a while now and I feel it’s definitely the time to buy it. Stoles are really versatile and can be worn in the day over a coat and jeans but look equally good worn in the evening over a dress and leather jacket.

This grey scarf (below) is from an American company called Charlotte and Lisa and is sadly out of my price range! It will stay firmly at the top of my wish list this winter, but being priced at $275 my chances of getting it are pretty slim. However, if you do win the lottery or fancy spending that much on a scarf, check out their website! Their stuff is beautiful and looks seriously warm.

Last but certainly not least are gloves! Embarrassing as it is, I am a sucker for gloves and slippers and will hunt for hours to find the perfect pair. Thankfully, this year I came across these adorable gloves in Accessorize (below) and what’s even more exciting is that there’s a matching scarf and hat…you know you want to!
