Humpit: The Hummus and Pitta Bar
Are you a hummus and pita kinda’ gal? If so, get yourself down to Leeds Corn Exchange to experience the wonderful creation that is Humpit. This restaurant bases its meals purely on hummus, pita and falafel and they describe the combination as ‘simple but incredible’. They serve their delicious hummus is a meal-sized bowl using their own unique Mediterranean recipe.
But how much is this special hummus and pita I hear you ask… Well I can reveal that for a ‘Humpit Classic’ which includes a bowl of hummus, whole chickpeas, parsley, olive oil, paprika and a pita on the side is just £4.50! What a bargain!
What more could you want? Tasty, cheap and healthy food that tastes divine!
Humpit is open Monday – Saturday from 11am till 5pm and on a Sunday 12pm till 4pm. So there is no room for excuses not to try it!

May’s Thai and Malaysian Café:
For those of you that love Thai food or want to try something new, I highly recommend May’s Café. At first I wasn’t so sure I would like it, but as soon as my food came, it was pure heaven! This has taught me to have a go at trying new foods as you may find something you like, even when you weren’t expecting it!
Their main aims are to serve real Thai/Malaysian food that you would find in Thailand or Malaysia. They use the freshest ingredients to make delicious combinations of dishes.
My favourite dish is their chicken chow mein and jasmine fried rice. Now, you might think that just under £10 for this dish is a bit pricey but the portions sizes are huge! Plus you get to bring your own alcohol, um….sold!
This cosy café is situated on Hyde Park Road and I think the atmosphere is perfect for a first date!
Boss Burgers:
If you are anything like me you are probably wondering at this point, where are the burgers?! Well lucky for you I have the perfect place that is just on your doorstep!
Boss Burgers on Brudnell Grove, definitely deserve to be on this list! They create handmade gourmet burgers that are freshly cooked when ordered, so as soon as you take that first bite you know you have got a quality beef burger. They also do veggie patties and chicken fillet too!
If you are on a student budget but you want a tasty meal, Boss Burgers have a student deal when you show your student card. You can get the classic beef burger, fries and drink for just £7.50! They are absolutely stunning and I would definitely go back again!
I am Döner:
Okay so you might think I have gone a bit crazy right now if I tell you that I am recommending a kebab takeaway. But hang on a minute, this isn’t just any old kabab takeaway, this is a well-established and professional looking kebab takeaway. (Excuse the M&S pun). With its open spaced kitchen and vegan options available, you can tell they take their kebabs seriously.
There is so much choice and so many different meats to choose from, even thinking about it makes me hungry! All their kebabs also come with pickled pink cabbage, roasted vegetables, seasonal salad, crumbled feta, chilli, herb & garlic sauce with a squeeze of lemon. Absolutely perfect!
In case you don’t fancy trekking to Headingley to make a visit, you can order on deliveroo and have it sent straight to your doorstep. The only tricky part is, choosing what you want!
