When you start University there’s only one thing more important than finding your way around campus: finding your way around all of the bars and clubs. When I first arrived in Leeds I had no idea where to go out, wasting a lot of time queuing every night for that ‘really cool club in a church’, which turned out to be, (sorry Halo lovers), not particularly cool. This is where Her Campus Leeds comes in – to guide you towards which are the biggest student nights in Leeds, the names of which you’ll become familiar with pretty quickly. Here’s a day-by-day breakdown to everything that isn’t Halo.
Monday
MiNT Mondays @ MiNT Club – Drinks and entry are priced at a pound at this award-winning small club who play House music on a Monday.
Gin & Juice @ HiFi – Falling on the last Monday of every month, Gin & Juice is one of Leeds biggest Hip-Hop nights.
Quids In @ Halo – I said I wouldn’t mention Halo, but if you’re going to go Monday is the night as it’s Quids in. Make sure you get there early as it’s always busy.
Guestlist @ Bed – Monday seems to be the night of Quids ins, except Bed go one better and make it 99p entry and 99p drinks. The first room plays a lot of Chart music and Party anthems, while the downstairs room plays RNB and Hip-Hop.
Tuesday
Space Tuesdays @ Space – There’s a House room and an RNB room, while drinks are pretty cheap: Tequila and Sambuca shots are just 80p!
Moustache @ Faversham – A night filled with Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop and party anthems.
Wednesday
Vodka Nationwide @ 02 Academy – Set in the huge venue of the 02 Academy with a staggering 2700 capacity, Vodka Nationwide is one of the biggest student nights in Leeds and claims to be the longest running.
Mischief @ Bed – Bed on a Wednesday attracts a lot of sports societies for their socials, so it’s always pretty busy.
Southern Fried @ Cockpit – An R&B and Hip-Hop night where you can write your song requests beforehand on the Facebook wall ‘Pimplist’ and drink Crunk Juice.
Thursday
Tequila @ Mezz – Tequila is one of the oldest student nights in country, starting 18 years ago by a group of friends who formed a Tequila Appreciation Society at Leeds University. Nowadays, it’s referred to as a ‘clubbing experience’ with a lot of Tequila.
Full Moon Party @ Mission – Thursdays at Mission are based on the full moon party experience on the beaches of Koh Phangan, Thailand. Basically, this means you buy buckets of drink and have luminous paint painted on your face.
Fuzzy Logic @ Wire – Wire plays indie, rock, alternative dance and electronic music and has its student night on a Thursday. Get there before 12 and it’s free entry.
Friday
Sticky Feet @ The Warehouse – Warehouse was voted the 55th best club in the world earlier this year, and there’s no better night to go than Sticky Feet. The music is described as ‘bass driven beats’.
Fruity @ Leeds University Union – Attending a Fruity Friday is compulsory if you go to Leeds University. Most weeks they’ll have guest appearances or themed nights.
Saturday
Propaganda @ 02 Academy – Propaganda is the UK’s biggest indie night. Most nights they’ll have big guests performing so keep a look out.
I Love Evo @ Evolution – Evo go all out for their Saturday student night, with hot tubs, a tuck shop and loads of entertainment. There’s now a new Indie room, which adds to the existing House/Chart music room, and the RnB/Hip-Hop room.
Saturday @ The Garage – The Garage is a pretty new club in Leeds, with both an alternative room and a guilty pleasures room.
Sunday
Sunday Joint @ HiFi – A free night which is something a bit different – they host different bands and DJ’s which mainly fall in the categories of Funk & Soul music.
