Little Night Terrors – 10/05/12 – Empire, Leeds
Following Rosanna’s interview I went along to catch Little Night Terrors on their UK tour at the Empire in Leeds.
The Empire is a relatively new, dark but dingy venue and was host to Little Night Terrors Leeds date on their UK tour. The indie three piece are currently touring the country promoting their new single ‘Pocket Rocket (Where Is The Light)’, released on 29th April, which can be downloaded from itunes or also bought as a 7” coloured vinyl. Not many new bands go straight for vinyl, but nice touch guys.
The Leicester based trio were skinny jean and leather jacket clad and had an infectious energy as soon as they hit the stage. Hooky choruses and foot tapping beats were aplenty and got the crowd instantly dancing and singing along.
The songs were get up and go – energetic with catchy riffs, prominent bass lines and the addition of a synth, albeit played through a backing track. Lead singer and guitarist, Andy Stone, had great stage presence and was accompanied by both bassist, Dan Holyoak, and drummer, James Stone, singing harmonies in the choruses. The extra voices gave the songs that little extra depth. Highlights were the songs ‘Pocket Rocket’, ‘Witches’ and closing track ‘Young Lion’, which may be the forthcoming new single.
Despite this being the tenth date into their UK tour Little Night Terrors put on an excellent show. Playing fresh indie rock with an edge, these boys are ones to watch for 2012.
