Let’s be honest, everyone’s guilty pleasure is singing in the shower. No one likes to admit it, but once we strip down and go under the warm water we somehow turn into Beyoncé. Using the shampoo bottle as your rhinestone encoded microphone like Lady Gaga is a passion of many, yet we don’t like to outwardly admit it. Not everyone can be the next Adele, but in the shower singing these songs you feel pretty damn close. Here are my favorite tunes to belt out when I’m getting sudsy.
1. Don’t Stop Believing by Journey
This song was idealized in Glee and continues to be a favorite of mine to jam out to while getting ready to get into the shower. Once I start singing the chorus I’m pumped to begin my private shower concert.
2. Born This Way by Lady Gaga
Or any song by the mother monster. Gaga is so empowering and awesome. She has that low base kind of voice that makes hitting notes not as embarrassing, but still slightly weird if someone walks in on you trying to hit the high notes. Singing Gaga in the shower makes you want to dance, but don’t slip.
3. Oops!…I Did it Again by Britney Spears
I think I did it again, so fucking classic. Shampooing my hair and grooving to the queen of pop takes me back to my hit clips days. The nostalgia definitely washes over me stronger than the shitty Lehigh water pressure.
4. Party In The U.S.A. by Miley Cyrus
Let’s be honest, Miley is everyone’s guilty (and not so guilty) pleasure. So singing this classic Miles song is definitely perfect for your shower jam sesh. Who doesn’t know all the words to all of Miley’s songs anyway? A fun sucker, that’s who.
5. Take Me Or Leave Me by The Cast of Rent
This is honestly my favorite broadway musical. Singing to broadway is the best in the shower because the whole tiny stall is your stage. I love trying to embody Idina Menzel’s passion which is what makes rocking out to this song an awesome distraction from shaving your legs. Because let’s be honest, shaving is boring and sucks so thinking about that person you’re crushing on while rocking out helps to make the process all the better.
Usually I make my playlists longer but who needs your dormmate yelling at you for taking an absurdly long shower whilst singing your heart out? So enjoy your secret love for singing while showering but try not to wake your neighbors. ;)
