Want to learn more about each sorority? For the next nine weeks, we will be featuring each chapter on campus. This week: Gamma Phi Beta.
How would you describe the typical Gamma Phi Beta woman?
Gamma Phi Beta women are personable, strong, loyal, and encouraging.
What is your best memory as a house?
Our best memory as a house this year was our Family Weekend tailgate. It was great to see everyone’s families come together in spirit of the football game. We all enjoyed some delicious food while showing our Lehigh pride.
How big are your PC’s usually?
Our PC’s usually range from 25-35 women.
What is your overall house GPA?
Our overall house GPA is a 3.25.
What is the chapter’s favorite meal that the chef makes?
Our chapter’s favorite meal is “Burger Night.” Our chef, Linda, makes all different types of burgers, along with her famous spinach and artichoke dip. We also love the different desserts that Linda makes- everything from chocolate chip banana bread to rice krispie treats.
What are your favorite Gamma Phi Beta traditions?
Our favorite Gamma Phi Beta tradition is our “No Abroad Send Off.” It is a special holiday themed celebration where we all come together to celebrate a great semester and say goodbye to our sisters that are traveling abroad.
How is your chapter different from the others on campus?
Our chapter is different from others because we are one of the oldest sororities on campus. We pride ourselves on our history and traditions that have been going on for many years at Lehigh.
What is your philanthropy? What are some events that you do to raise money & awareness for your philanthropy?
Our philanthropic mission is Building Strong Girls. We are partnered with Girls on the Run, a non-profit organization that inspires young girls to be happy and confident. Two of our major philanthropy events include our annual Crescent Classic Volleyball Tournament and our “Hearthrob” Candygram Delivery. All proceeds from these events go to Girls on the Run.
Some people are worried about the financial commitment that is associated with Greek Life. How have sisters in your sorority dealt with this issue?
We work with every member in the best way that we can to assure that financial concerns do not become a reason to be unable to be a part of Gamma Phi Beta. We have different policies, financial plans, and scholarships that our members can take advantage of.
What would be your chapter’s advice for a PNM about going through recruitment?
Our advice would be to enjoy meeting all of the different chapters on campus and find a place that you can call your home away from home. Joining a chapter that you love is something that will truly enhance your Lehigh experience.
