2021 Grammy Red Carpet Looks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LMU chapter.

For the past year, we have missed so many of our annual award shows like the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the Grammys, and even the phenomenal Met Gala. Our experience with virtual shows has been interesting, to say the least. But with COVID-19 vaccination rates going up and infection/case numbers going down, it’s obvious that our favorite events will return in no time. This year’s Grammys was definitely more ordinary than other award show occasions, but it was still kept very COVID safe. With an unusual year behind us, it is natural for artists to want to show themselves again and announce that they are back in the game. The glamorous red carpet looks at this year’s Grammy Awards turned heads, shocked many, and even caused a wide range of emotional outbursts.

Taylor Swift

After being away for four years, Taylor Swift officially made it back onto the red carpet at the Grammys. The singer decided to go with a sheer, multicolored, floral mini dress. It was designed by Oscar de la Renta and left her fans speechless. The dress not only matched the theme of the new spring season but also highlighted her comeback to the Grammys and made the win for her album “Folklore” ten times better.

Harry Styles

The king himself, Harry Styles, left the audience in tears, taking to the stage in his leather suit and heading to the red carpet in his multi-patterned outfit. Styles tends to lean towards a unique feminine and masculine style; he loves flared pants and sleeves, and bright pastel colors. Both outfits were designed by Gucci, which sparked some controversy within different audiences. The outfit Styles wore on stage, which was a black leather suit, made his fans go crazy. On the other hand, his red carpet outfit was deemed “too casual” and “weird-looking”.

Dua Lipa

Dua’s bedazzled pink theme has been one of the most mentioned style moments of the 2021 Grammys. Each outfit was different and beautiful in its own way, but each piece went together perfectly. Her red carpet pink butterfly gown was designed by Versace. The dress had two cut-outs on the sides, showing off her curves, with the sheer skirt exposing the lower half of her body. For her performance, she wore a puffy fuchsia gown with a sparkly pink belt around her waist. Her sparkly baby pink bra was visible because of the low-cut neckline and, halfway through the performance, her dress came off and exposed a matching pair of high-waisted bottoms underneath.

Lizzo

The dress Lizzo wore while she posed with Harry Styles was one of the two dresses designed for her by Balmain. The light and shiny pink ruched, one-shoulder gown were matched with the famous $2 dollar hair clips, which left Lizzo looking flawless. Her second strapless mini dress was also from the same material as the first gown, but the color was more of shiny pastel green, completed with eye-catching Bulgari jewelry and a pair of green bedazzled sandals. Lizzo honored the spring colors with both her outfits.

Megan Thee Stallion

With her first official Grammy win, Meghan Thee Stallion rocked the red carpet in her orange Dolce Gabbana outfit. The strapless dress came with a high-leg slit and Meghan matched it with a diamond necklace and orange, strappy heels with jewels. Her hair is in a loose, but clean, bun, which goes with the outfit very well and shows off her round earrings. Orange is a hard color to pull off, but Meghan Thee Stallion pulled it off and was able to create an iconic look.
