Do you like bada** females and hot shirtless British actors? Yeah, we thought so…Â
1. If you want to know what happens after Divergent…
If you haven’t seen the first installment, then here is a little SPOILER ALERT. The movie ends on a cliffhanger! In other words, you probably were wondering What happens next? If you need a refresher, and maybe a little preface to get you prepared for Insurgent, don’t worry; Initiate, we got your back! Tris and Four, along with Peter (Miles Teller) and Caleb (Ansel Elgort), are on the run from Jeanine (Kate Winslet) and Erudite (the faction that values intelligence) following an attack on the Abnegation (the selfless), and are headed to the Amity (the faction that renders kindness as the highest attribute). Jeanine is specifically hunting Divergent (aka Tris and Four), but anyone else in alliance with the duo is in danger as well. Dun dun dun… In the latest installment, you will also learn about the Factionless, those that did not make it in a particular faction.
2. Shailene Woodley is a bada**.
If you thought Shai was a fearless female in Divergent, just wait until Insurgent. Tris now has her Dauntless (the brave) training under her belt, in addition to fully accepting herself as a Divergent and a rebel. Â Watch her kick some serious butt in this movie!
3. Theo James is literal perfection.
There doesn’t need to be any explanation here right?
4. Kate Winslet is a villain again.
And to say she is determined is an understatement. Kate Winslet is back as the ruthless Erudite leader who will do whatever it takes to open the Box (this is a change from the book) and solve the mystery of what lies within it.
5. TFIOS hottie, Ansel Elgort, is back as Tris’s brother Caleb.
Caleb Prior is back, everyone! At the end of Divergent, Tris’s bro is on the run with the gang. Caleb transferred to Erudite from Abnegation in the beginning of the first installment, but left after realizing Jeanine’s plan to overthrow Abnegation. Let’s just say things might change in the upcoming film. Without spoiling too much, I must mention that this film definitely shows off Ansel’s acting chops.
6. Miles Teller brings the comedy.
Miles Teller reprises his role of Peter, the not-so-nice guy that you love to hate. He might be a little bit of a jerk, but he brings humor to even the most stressful situations. You will be constantly asking yourself whose side he’s really on.
7. SO. MANY. TWISTS.
You will be in the edge of your seat! This movie has intense special effects, crazy fight scenes, shocking betrayals, steamy make out scenes, and constant action that will have your heart pumping for two hours. So get your popcorn ready, ladies, and run as fast as you can to see Insurgent in theaters NOW.
