It is officially spooky season. And while the LA sun sure doesn’t make it feel like fall, there are plenty of things to do in the city that will put you in the Halloween spirit.
Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch
With free admission on Monday through Thursday, Mr. Bones is a great place to go to as a college student on a budget. Here you can find all of the classic pumpkin patch activities- pony rides, bouncy houses, and of course a corn maze. You also may run into a celebrity parent that frequents the patch, such as Hilary Duff or Alessandra Ambrosio.
Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights
Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios truly are horrifying. With creepy clowns lurking around corners and men with chainsaws willing to chase you, the fright may be worth the dent in your budget from the ticket purchase.
Celebrate Oktoberfest
Get the most out of Oktoberfest as this German celebration comes to a close. Wirsthaus on La Brea has the most authentic imported beer of almost anywhere in the US, and even better pretzels and spatzle.
Go Apple Picking
Being an out-of-state student, I did not expect to see as much fall foliage as I have so far in LA. It’s definitely worth it to make the drive out to a farm and go apple picking with a group of friends. The trees are beautiful and make you feel like it’s actually fall in the sunny state.
Enjoy LA’s Best Restaurants’ Thanksgiving Menus
If you can’t make it home this Thanksgiving (or if you want a taste of a classic Thanksgiving feast a little early this year), you may want to check out some local restaurants. Anywhere else, going out to eat for Thanksgiving just isn’t the same as having a home-cooked meal. But we’re not anywhere else- we’re in Los Angeles, and food from a world-class chef might be just as good as your mom’s. Check out 71Above or Akasha for modern twists on traditional favorites.
Happy Halloween, Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Fall everyone!
