The necessity of natural beauty products is highly underrated. As a beauty junkie myself I have far too many products for my own good. From body butters and soaps to makeup and hair products; my bathroom is filled to the brim with a variety of things that claim they’ll make drastic changes to the appearance of my skin and hair. However, recently I was inspired to do a complete 180 and change the way I treated beauty products by doing my own research and finally throwing away the products I was probably never going to use. While it seems like common sense I’d never really taken time to think about how the products I put on were being absorbed by my skin. But while reading an article all about the importance of using natural beauty products it suddenly seemed so simple, I couldn’t figure out why I hadn’t thought of that earlier. But most importantly what had I been putting on my skin and in return into my body all these years? It turns out that your skin absorbs about 60% of the creams, lotions and other beauty products that sit on top of it. After learning these facts I went to my bathroom to look into the ingredients of what I had been putting on my skin all this time.  With words like Cyclopentasiloxane and Trimethylsiloxysilicate on the back of the labels I quickly realized I really had no idea what I was putting on my skin, and that terrified me. Thus began my search for beauty products that were both effective and safe to slather all over my skin. In my attempts to fully transfer my beauty stash into a natural and safe collection I learned that some products are not created equal and natural products aren’t always the most effective. Switching to an all-natural regime is not an easy task but definitely isn’t impossible.

My search for the best natural products led me to continue the discussion of natural vs. chemical in other aspects of my life. While the concern of what my skin is absorbing is definitely an issue to be aware of, I realized more importantly I should focus what I’m actually putting into my body. Now this is probably the appropriate time to explain that I am by no means a healthy eater. Basically if I want In-N-Out every night for a week you better believe I’m not denying myself that. But through my discovery of natural products I attempted to change my lifestyle. Mostly I focused on taking supplements for the nutrients I wasn’t receiving in my day-to-day diet and trying to add in a green smoothie here and there. I started taking daily vitamins (of the gummy bear variety of course), a mix of biotin and other nutrients for my hair and nails and even the occasional protein shake. Who knows if this little change is making a drastic difference for my health but I can say with certain that I definitely feel better.

HCLMU was lucky enough to be sent some samples of products from Kaeng Raeng’s natural lifestyle line. After spending the last few months learning about and searching for the best natural products and supplement, I more than jumped at the chance to try these samples. We received both the Detoxfoliant Body Scrub and their Daily Green Energy Packet. Let me just say I was SO excited to try these products and I was definitely not disappointed. Not only are their products all natural, non-gmo, gluten free and vegan but they are also cruelty free which is really just the icing on the cake of a great brand.

The Deotxfoliant Body Scrub will instantly transport you to a spa, even if you’re just in your own bathroom, or less than impressive communal dorm shower. The scent is a mix of Vanilla and Lavender has to be one of the best mixes for relaxation and distressing. Not only did it smell amazing but also it left my skin incredibly smooth. Body scrubs weren’t a huge part of my daily routine until recently and all I can say is that the addition of them completely changed my skin. Now I can always count on having baby soft skin and really who doesn’t love that.

I don’t love kale but I did love the Daily Green Energy Packets. After following the instructions given for a health novice and mixing the packet with my favorite smoothie, a simple mix of coconut water, bananas and some frozen fruits, I had one tasty green drink. The mix boasts being “vegan, gluten free, caffeine free, soy free, non-gmo, and peanut free” and frankly delicious. As someone who buys veggies at the grocery store every week only to have them go bad I definitely appreciate this easy packet that gives me the benefits of twelve real fruits and vegetables. It’s an easy meal for a student on the go.

Needless to say we are officially obsessed with Kaeng Rang. Be sure to check out their full range of products here and change your lifestyle for the better!
