Wake up, wash my face, brush my teeth,
Make coffee, put in the creamer, work hard.
Stare at a screen, “go to school,” eat dinner.
Take a shower, watch some TV, go to sleep.
Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.
I’m craving adventure, loved ones, and hope.
Wanting to step foot at the university I call home. Wondering how I’m so far away from my closest friends.
Wishing this all would come to an end.
How much longer? Time moves too slow.
One day we’ll get back to “normal.”
One day we’ll hug the neck of friends and family.
One day we’ll go to the grocery store without wearing a mask.
One day we’ll eat inside our favorite restaurants.
One day we’ll go back to the school that we thought we hated.
One day we’ll return to the churches we’re watching online.
One day soon we’ll go back to “normal.”
